influencers - Arthur Meyerson
I am unsure why, but the work of Arthur Meyerson has only recently come to my attention. His is work that demands attention, layered with a depth of color and form that encourages repeat visits.
Arthur’s work is based on one simple principle, that is getting out and finding interesting compositions.
Working solely in color he does not restrict himself to any particular genre, seeking otherwise to capture anything that provides him interest. Much of his work is of the familiar, or everyday street moments that others might look past.
About the Artist
Since 1974 Arthur has been photographing the world, winning numerous awards for his commercial, advertising and editorial photography. Today he is recognized as being one of America’s finest color photographers.
A three-time winner of Adweek’s “Southwest Photographer of the Year” award, he is on Communication World’s list of top 10 commercial photographers and was named one of the 30 best advertising photographers by American Photo Magazine.
His books include the highly acclaimed, The Color of Light (2012) and the recently released, The Journey (2017).
Source of inspiration
When I look at Arthur’s photography it encourages me to take a closer look at the world and do more with my own.
His use of color and composition is exemplary, making the task of creating exciting images seem so easy. His attention to the smallest detail and ability to find interest in the mundane inspires me to look at my everyday environment with fresh eyes.
When asked for advice for others Arthur shared the following response.
“Shoot as often as possible, be your own toughest critic, be persistent, don’t be afraid to fail and avoid pre-conceptions. That way you’re less likely to be disappointed by what you don’t find and more open to what is actually there.”
